Girls and Boys in Motion

Girls and Boys in Motion is a unique after-school program for girls at Langston Middle School, Prospect Elementary School and the Boys and Girls Club in Oberlin, Ohio. Girls in Motion is now in its eleventh year of operation. Our motto, "Move Smart - Talk Smart - Be Smart", reveals our approach towards movement education. In after-school classes taught by Oberlin College student mentors, we introduce students to fun and integrative movement forms as well as creative activities. Students work in groups, where they sharpen their active listening and conflict resolution skills. Our classes help develop physical fitness and self-esteem, as well as fostering students' sense of social responsibility and capacity for community leadership.
